Hachette Book Group (HBG) is a major US trade publisher owned by Hachette Livre, a global publishing company based in France. Hachette Livre is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lagardère, a pure media group (books, press, broadcast, digital, travel retail and press distribution, sports trading and sports rights), which is among the world leaders in the sector. HBG is headquartered in New York, with offices in Boston, MA, Lebanon, IN, and Nashville, TN. HBG owns Hachette Book Group Canada, Inc., a marketing and publicity company based in Toronto, ON.
In one year, HBG publishes approximately 650 adult books, 125 young adult and children’s books, and 100 audio book titles. In 2011, the company had a record 182 print books and 62 eBooks on the New York Times bestseller list, 45 of which reached #1 (37 were print titles and 8 were books).

Company History
Hachette Book Group was created when Hachette Livre, a global publishing company based in France, acquired Time Warner Book Group from Time Warner in 2006. Hachette Livre is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lagardère, a company that is active worldwide in the areas of communications and media (books, press, audiovisual and distribution/retailing of cultural products). HBG’s long history dates back to 1837 with the founding of Little, Brown and Company and it continues to evolve and grow today.
